Jeannine,
This is the easiest little outfit to make. The pattern was in the pattern books even 38 years ago because I made many for my first dd and then for all her sisters later. The only trouble was back then, we were so broke that it was hard to buy the extra fabric to make it reversable. LOL. I used to buy the cheapest cottons and unfortunately they faded quickly. But this was such a cute little outfit that looked adorable and also was quick and easy to sew. One tip: put trim into the outside edge seams because it just makes it easier to turn and press flat if there's some trim to pull on to pull the seam all the way out. On the ones I made without trim, it was hard to get the seam all the way open when you pressed it on the outside. I know another way to do that now, but back then, rik rak was the answer LOL. Even a contrast piping in a cool print or polka dot or even gingham looks good.
